Retirement Best Wishes

Retirement Best Wishes

The whole school community extends warm best wishes for a bright and happy future to Mrs. Philomena Wallace who has taken early retirement after a long and distinguished teaching career in St. Mary’s. Mrs. Wallace has been a highly respected and valued member of the teaching staff and is known to countless generations of students as a committed teacher of Home Economics and S.P.H.E.. For many years she has been an Assistant Principal with responsibility for developing students' leadership skills through the many and varied committees at work in the school. In her work with the student council and school Prefecture Mrs Wallace has firmly established the role of the student in the decision making processes in the school.

Likewise we extend warm best wishes to Mrs Mary Mahon who also took early retirement earlier this year after her long and distinguished teaching career in St. Mary’s. A highly respected and valued member of the teaching staff since joining St Mary's in 1978 Mrs Mahon is also known to countless generations of students as a teacher of Home Economics, Learning Support and SPHE. For many years she has been an Assistant Principal and Year Head and is regarded by one and all as a very kind and fair teacher, committed to the welfare of her students.

Phil and Mary will be missed both professionally and personally. We wish you both well for the future. We wish you peace, health and happiness to enjoy your retirement and hope that your future years will be filled with all the things you have looked forward to. We sincerely thank you for your service to Mercy Education in St. Mary’s. Your departure, along with that of Mrs Mary O'Connor, marks the end of an era within the Home Economics department and a great change within our staff. You are much missed.
